Project Description:
Barraba Health Service provides hospital care, aged
care and community health services to the Shire of
Barraba, a rural community located just over an hour
north of Tamworth. The Hospital dates originally from
the early 1900s and has had a number of additions over
the years. The structure and its services are no longer
adequate, particularly in the aged care section of
the Hospital.
The Capworks Group was appointed as Project Manager
for the redevelopment, commencing the project planning
process in late 2001 with construction due for completion
in August 2003.
The new centre will include six acute beds, one of
which is a larger special care room, and sixteen high
care aged rooms, all with ensuites.
Extensive
alterations and refurbishment of the existing buildings,
requiring complex staging, includes extending
the Community Health Service accommodation, relocating
the hospital’s administration and upgrading the
emergency department. Barraba Ambulance Station is
also being re-located to the Hospital site.
