Description:
The construction of the new Basin View Facility
will allow the RFBI to provide aged care for 50 residents
in a residential environment in the Shoalhaven area
of the NSW South Coast.
The facility will have four wings. Two each of 15
beds, and two each of 10 beds as the dementia specific
area.
The key design issue was to arrange bedrooms in wings
so that the corridors focus on the main activity space,
and particularly on the kitchen, which acts as the
staff base.
The two dementia wings open onto a secure terrace
and garden area and the two front wings open to large
terraces.
Construction commenced in June 2003
