The
office of Capworks Management (Vic) was awarded a major
multi-million dollar contract to undertake a building
audit for Education Victoria of 900 schools in the metropolitan
and country areas of the State.
The audit collected, validated and reported on over
1 million items of information contained in 78,000 rooms.
The most critical elements reviewed related to fire,
disabled access , glazing and the replacement of capacitors
containing polychlorinated biphenyls(PCB's)
Capworks oversaw the collection of all field data and
then processed the information to create an electronic
database which when completed was transferred to the
Education Departments central computer system.
To execute the project Capworks invested $200,000 in
the purchase of portable pen activated computers and
laptops for the audit team to use in the field.
The completed database provided Education Victoria with
an effective means to manage and prioritise the planned
maintenance of their extensive asset portfolio.
